What does app development mean with me?

Some processes do not belong at a desk but in a pocket: capture on the go, reminders at the right time, data at hand in the field. When no ready-made app exists for that — or the ready-made apps come with advertising, subscriptions and data collection — I build it: native apps for smartphones and tablets, from the first concept to the finished installation.

Native means the app runs directly on the device, starts fast and responds smoothly. Lean means: no trackers, no forced sign-up with third-party services, no features nobody needs. And honest means: if a web application is the leaner solution for your task, I will tell you in the initial consultation.

Who is it for?

For small and medium-sized businesses that want to map field service, warehouse or service processes on mobile — and for organisations with their own data protection requirements. Also for the public sector: because my apps work without data collection and without US services, they meet GDPR requirements by design.

Self-hosted & GDPR: what that means here in practice

Apps are often diligent data collectors: analytics services, advertising networks, synchronisation to third-party servers. My apps do without all of that. Data that is only needed on the device stays on the device. If the app does need a connection — for example to your ERP — the other end runs on your own infrastructure, as described on the self-hosting page. That keeps the data path short, documented and GDPR-compliant.

My own app Zerø shows how consistent this can be: the Android app against food waste stores the entire pantry locally on the smartphone — scan the barcode, capture the best-before date with the camera, get reminded in time, without a single piece of data leaving the device.

Typical use cases

Field data capture: record measurements, service reports or inspection logs directly on site — without paper and without retyping in the office.

Common questions about app development

Which devices do you develop for? +

For smartphones and tablets — natively, built directly for the respective device. My own app Zerø runs on Android, for example. Which platform is right for your project is something I clarify with you in the initial consultation.

Does the app have to go into an app store? +

Not necessarily. Whether the app is distributed internally or published depends on your project — both are possible. I advise you honestly in the initial consultation.

What does a custom app cost? +

After the free initial consultation you receive a quote with a fixed price and a binding deadline. No open hourly budgets — you know in advance exactly what it costs and when it will be finished.

What happens to our data in the app? +

As little as possible: my apps come without trackers and hidden data collection. What is only needed locally stays on the device. If a connection to your systems is needed, it runs on your own infrastructure — GDPR-compliant.
